A three-day Nepal-India cross-border tourism program, aimed at boosting the number of Indian tourists visiting Nepal and strengthening bilateral cooperation, commenced on Monday in Chitwan. The event, 'Nepal-India Cross Border Tourism Connect 2026', is a joint initiative by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council and the Samriddha Chitwan Abhiyan.
Somnath Sapkota, spokesperson for the NRNA International Coordination Council, highlighted that the program's primary objective is to expand tourism partnerships between Nepal and India. He informed that 21 tourism entrepreneurs and representatives from various Indian cities are participating. These delegates will engage in direct meetings with Nepali tourism entrepreneurs, hotel and resort operators, and other local tourism stakeholders to discuss business opportunities.
The program's agenda includes crucial business-to-business (B2B) meetings, introductory tours of key attractions, and detailed discussions on developing attractive tourism packages. A significant focus will be on devising strategies to ensure a consistent flow of tourists, thereby contributing to the economic growth of both nations through enhanced tourism ties. This initiative is expected to pave the way for more robust tourism exchanges and foster stronger cultural and economic bonds.
