Adani group, IHCL to develop eight airport hotels

Adani and IHCL to develop 8 airport hotels across four cities, adding 2,000 rooms in 3–4 years.

Mumbai: Adani Group, on Thursday, tied up with Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) to develop eight hotels on airport-owned land at Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Guwahati.

The partnership will add 2,000 rooms across various brands over the next 3-4 years and give a push to Adani Group’s commercial development plans.

This is a second such tie up by the Adani Group for hotel development on airport owned land parcels in five months. In May, the group partnered with IHG Hotels & Resorts to build five hotels around four airports.

The new tie-up will see development of a Taj hotel near terminal 2 in Mumbai. In Lucknow, the development will comprise a Vivanta and a Ginger hotel. Ahmedabad will include a Taj and a Vivanta which are in advance stages of development, while Guwahati will feature a Taj, Gateway and Ginger, the companies said.

“Our partnership with IHCL is an important step in this journey, bringing together our hospitality-led mixed-use destinations and India’s leading hospitality company to create world-class hotels across key airport cities with its brands including the iconic Taj. Together, we aim to strengthen the hospitality ecosystem within our Airport City developments and contribute to the long-term economic growth of the regions we serve,” Jeet Adani, Director of Adani Airport Holdings Limited said.

“As India strengthens its position as one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets, airport-centric developments are emerging as important commercial and hospitality hubs. With these additions IHCL will have 25 hotels across its brandscape at key airports in India,” said Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director and CEO, IHCL.
