Pradeep Bansal, a Hinjewadi resident, said he received a text around 4pm that the flight had been delayed to 9pm. “The message came too late. I had already left home in Hinjewadi. There was little communication from ground staff. The wait kept getting longer after I reached the airport. Around 9pm, we were told the flight would now depart at 10.55pm,” he told TOI.He alleged that the airline first refused to issue boarding passes and later pushed the flight to 11.55pm and then 12.55am. “Many of us had been at the airport since 4.30pm and were hungry.
Despite DGCA norms requiring airlines to provide refreshments to passengers during prolonged delays, ground staff flatly refused and behaved rudely, telling passengers that no refreshments would be provided and that we could complain to anyone we wanted. Such treatment is unacceptable,” he said.TOI has sent a detailed query to a SpiceJet spokesperson via WhatsApp. The airline’s response was awaited until the time of going to press.Another passenger alleged that ground staff offered little information for hours, leaving flyers uncertain about the departure schedule.
The passenger also cited recent social media videos allegedly showing rude behaviour by SpiceJet staff. In one instance, a flyer worried about a broken aircraft window was reportedly told to leave the aircraft if she felt unsafe. In another, a passenger questioning a delay was allegedly reminded that they had chosen a low-cost carrier. “Delayed salaries may explain employee frustration, but it does not excuse rude behaviour towards passengers.
Flyers should not bear the brunt of staff grievances,” the passenger said.Bansal said the flight was further delayed to 1.15am, with passengers told that an incoming aircraft from Varanasi would operate between Pune and Delhi. “Despite the prolonged delay, no refreshments were provided. Boarding pass distribution began only around 1.30am, after the aircraft from Varanasi arrived. The flight eventually took off at 2.30am, reaching Delhi around 4.20am,” he said.Bansal said several passengers were left frustrated and helpless as refunds or alternate travel could have caused further delays.
“It was a harrowing experience, marked by poor communication, no refreshments and rude behaviour from the staff,” he told TOI.You Can Also Check: Gold Rate in Pune | Silver Rate in Pune | Bank Holidays in Pune | Public Holidays in Pune | Petrol Price in Pune | Diesel Price in Pune | CNG Price in Pune | LPG Price in PuneStay updated with the latest Pune news.
