Britannic Explorer luxury train in North Wales - timetable

The Britannic Explorer luxury train is set to travel through North Wales, offering a scenic route for passengers.

A luxury sleeper train will travel through North Wales later today, giving railway enthusiasts the chance to see it as it makes its way to Holyhead.

The Britannic Explorer, operated by luxury travel company Belmond, is scheduled to travel from Haverfordwest to Holyhead on Tuesday, October 20, before making a later journey back to Llandudno Junction.

The train is part of Belmond's Wales itinerary and is scheduled to be hauled by two GB Railfreight Class 66 locomotives in a top-and-tail formation.

Belmond says the Britannic Explorer has 18 sleeper cabins, as well as an observation car and wellbeing suite, with dining curated by chef Simon Rogan MBE.

On Tuesday evening, the train will approach North Wales via Crewe and Chester, rather than travelling through Wrexham.

Scheduled timings show it passing Chester at 5.58pm before heading into Flintshire, passing Shotton at 6.09pm and Flint at 6.16pm.

It will then continue along the North Wales coast towards Holyhead, giving people at several stations the opportunity to see it pass.

According to scheduled timings published by Realtime Trains, it is due to pass or arrive at the following locations:

The Britannic Explorer is then scheduled to leave Holyhead at 9.08pm for its journey back to Llandudno Junction.

On the return journey, it is scheduled to pass Valley at 9.16pm, Llanfairpwll at around 9.34pm, Bangor at around 9.39pm and Penmaenmawr at around 9.49pm.

It is due to arrive at Llandudno Junction at 9.58pm, where the scheduled working ends.

Although the luxury train will be an unusual sight on the North Wales coast, Tuesday's journey is not a one-off.

Published departure information lists autumn Wales itineraries beginning on October 12 and October 19, with further departures listed for November 9 and November 16.

Railtour information warns that scheduled workings can be changed or cancelled at short notice.
